# Sponsor Gas

Choose sponsored execution or approve a self-funded gas ceiling.

Install the CLI and [sign in](https://namera.ai/docs/cli/authentication). Replace the example
account ID, session-key ID, and recipient with your own. Use an active key
installed on **Base Sepolia** with permission for the operation.

The transfer amount and gas budget are different. Even with sponsored gas,
the account must hold the assets you are transferring.

## Use Sponsored Gas [#use-sponsored-gas]

Sponsored execution is subject to the account's permissions and Namera's
applicable limits. An interactive execution prompts for sponsorship and defaults
to Yes.

## Pay Gas from the Account [#pay-gas-from-the-account]

Set sponsorship to false and approve an explicit maximum total gas cost in wei:

Here the transfer is 0.001 ETH and the gas ceiling is another 0.001 ETH. The ceiling
is not a gas estimate or a promise that this amount will be spent. An operation
whose prepared cost exceeds the ceiling is rejected.

For `--params`, put `"sponsor": false` in the request and pass
`--max-gas-cost-wei` as a separate CLI option.

## Set an Agent's Ceiling [#set-an-agents-ceiling]

namera mcp serve --profile agent --max-gas-cost-wei 1000000000000000
```

Configure that option in the command your MCP client launches. Without a ceiling,
the process permits sponsored operations only. A tool call cannot raise it.

Save the submission ID and [track it](https://namera.ai/docs/cli/guides/transactions/track-transactions).
Do not repeat the execution to check progress.

Example output uses fixture accounts and hashes, captured with the CLI's output
formatters. Plain-text output is shown without terminal colors; your values and
relative expiry dates will differ.
